This magnificent vintage Persian Najafabad rug (9'9" x 14'5") embodies the refinement, balance, and harmony that define the weaving heritage of central Iran. Najafabad rugs are celebrated for their durability, their elegant adaptation of the Isfahan style, and their ability to retain their character beautifully over time. This piece is no exception it is richly detailed, warm in presence, and woven with a sophisticated interplay of classical motifs.

Design & Motifs

At the heart of the rug lies an intricate floral medallion radiating symmetrically across the field. Surrounding it is a sweeping array of spiraling vines, palmettes, blossoms, and arabesques, all meticulously hand-knotted. The floral patterning flows effortlessly across the field, creating an elegant continuity between the medallion and the border. This structure is historically rooted in the artistic traditions of Isfahan, whose influence Najafabad weavers proudly continue.

The border system is exceptional a rich deep-navy main border filled with stylized palmettes, rosettes, and boteh-inspired motifs framed by delicately patterned guard borders. The contrast between the detailed central field and the strong, architectural border is a hallmark of fine Najafabad craftsmanship.

Color Palette (In Order of Dominance)

  1. Ruby Red – The dominant field color, creating a warm, inviting foundation.

  2. Deep Navy Blue – Prominent in the border and in floral outlines.

  3. Cream / Ivory – Used in the medallion, floral stems, and highlights.

  4. Light Blue – Accents throughout the field and border.

  5. Olive Green – Used in leaf motifs and additional floral elements.

  6. Gold / Beige – Subtle detailing and age-softened highlights.

  7. Dark Brown / Black – Outlining and structural depth.

These colors work together to give the rug tremendous depth the red draws you in, the navy anchors the design, and the ivory and blues provide balance and luminosity.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The rug is woven from 100% high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, characteristic of vintage Najafabad production. The wool is soft, resilient, and naturally lustrous. Over the years, the pile has developed a gentle vintage patina, giving it warmth and authenticity. This rug has exceptional durability, making it suitable for high-traffic rooms while still maintaining its artistry.

We are pleased to offer free shipping and free returns in all 50 states within the USA, including Hawaii and Alaska. For our Canadian customers, we charge a flat fee of $50. All rugs are shipped the next business day after your order is placed.

Once your rug is shipped, we will email you the tracking number along with an estimated arrival time.

Please note that any country outside of the U.S. might charge you import taxes.

Returns Policy

To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.

Before we send out your item we take pictures for future references.

  3. no signs of wear, washing, or improper care
  4. no damage or stains

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item. In addition, we will also inform you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, then your refund will surely be processed to your original payment method, within 2-5 business days. Returned Items most be in original or like-kind packaging.

Processing time: please give us up to five business days to process your return, and an additional 2-3 business to receive your money back. If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

We will issue a return shipping label, you just need to drop off the rug at UPS or FedEx. You also have the option to have the package picked up from your home.
