11'10" x 17'9" Oriental Oushak Rug | Green Field, Black Floral Border | Palace Size, Brand New
This is an Oriental Oushak in a true palace size, 11'10" x 17'9", which rounds to a 12x18 and covers the floor of a large formal room with room to spare. It is brand new and never used, hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation, with a soft sage green field carrying a rich all-over floral design and framed by a bold black border. Every rug we ship includes a certificate of authenticity. A rug this large is defined first by its footprint, so it belongs with the biggest formats we carry.
Design and Motifs
The field is a full all-over floral, with large palmettes and open blossoms linked by leafy vines and long serrated leaves that repeat across the green ground with no central medallion to anchor them. The drawing is generous and traditional, the kind of graceful floral language the Oushak style is loved for, and the lack of a medallion makes the rug easy to lay in any direction under furniture. What lifts the whole design is the border: a wide black band carrying a bold scrolling vine of palmettes and leaves in gold, rust and cream, a strong dark frame that gives the softer field its structure and makes the colors inside it glow.
Color and Palette
The field is a muted sage that leans toward olive, a calm and slightly earthy green that reads as warm rather than cool. Across it the flowers are worked in gold, tan, rust and brick red with deeper burgundy and cream accents, so the pattern stays rich without turning loud. The black border is the anchor, its floral vine picked out in the same gold and rust so the frame belongs to the field. It is a classic, grounded palette, green and black with warm metallics, the kind of coloring that suits a formal library, dining room or great room and holds up beautifully under low light.
Origin and Weave
This rug is hand-knotted in India, which is where a great deal of the world's finest contemporary hand-knotted work is now made, in the Oushak tradition of large-scale, soft-toned floral design. At roughly 140 to 160 knots per square inch, with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, it is a substantial, well-made Oriental rug built to cover and last. Woven at this scale it is a genuinely uncommon find, and it sits naturally among our oversize rugs for anyone furnishing a truly large room.
