This 3'5 x 5 Persian Rudbar village rug is a striking example of traditional northern Iranian craftsmanship, woven with an expressive allover tree and bird composition. The design reflects deep cultural symbolism, combining nature motifs with bold tribal geometry.

Design and Motifs

The field is filled with stylized trees, birds, rosettes, and abstract floral forms arranged in a rhythmic allover layout. Birds symbolize protection and harmony, while the branching tree forms represent life and continuity. The design remains balanced yet lively, typical of Rudbar village weaving.

Border and Framing

A richly ornamented border surrounds the field, composed of repeating geometric medallions, rosettes, and tribal symbols. Multiple guard borders provide visual depth and reinforce the strong village character of the rug.

Colors and Their Placement

An ivory base sets the stage for deep reds, dark navy, and black outlining. Accents of cobalt blue, teal, olive, rust, mustard, and soft browns bring contrast and movement. The palette is bold yet harmonious, true to village weaving traditions.

Materials and Craftsmanship

Hand-knotted using durable wool on a wool foundation, this rug offers a dense, resilient structure suited for daily use. The slightly varied knotting and color transitions highlight its authentic village origin. The rug is never used and in brand new condition.
