This 7' x 10'4 Persian Bijar rug represents one of the finest examples of Kurdish craftsmanship from Bijar, Iran. Woven at approximately 500 knots per square inch, it offers remarkable density, precision, and structural strength. Bijar rugs are often called the “Iron Rugs of Persia” due to their durability and compact weaving technique.
This particular piece is entirely unique. No second example exists. The design, color balance, and weaving precision make it a singular work of textile art.
Design and Motifs
The rug features a commanding circular floral medallion resting on a luminous ivory field. The medallion is richly decorated with layered palmettes, delicate rosettes, and scrolling vines arranged in radial symmetry.
The field is densely populated with an intricate garden of blossoms, stylized floral sprays, and finely drawn botanical elements. The corner spandrels in deep navy create visual depth and frame the central composition beautifully.
