This 8'2 x 11'2 Signed Paradies Persian Tabriz Rug is a masterfully woven narrative piece that reflects the Persian concept of paradise through nature, harmony, and balance. Hand-knotted in Tabriz using fine kork wool on a cotton foundation, this rug combines artistic storytelling with refined craftsmanship. The composition is rich in symbolism, featuring birds, flowering branches, and garden elements arranged around a central medallion, creating a scene that feels alive and poetic.

Design and Motifs

The design illustrates a paradisiacal garden, a theme deeply rooted in Persian art. Graceful birds are woven throughout the field, perched among flowering vines, palmettes, and leafy branches. These birds symbolize peace, eternity, and spiritual harmony. The central medallion anchors the composition, surrounded by a symmetrical garden layout that evokes flowing water channels and lush vegetation. The corner spandrels mirror the garden imagery, reinforcing the sense of an enclosed paradise. The rug is signed, confirming its artistic origin and elevating its collectible appeal.

Border and Framing

The rug is framed by an ornate multi-layered border system. The main border features continuous floral vines and garden motifs that echo the inner field, while secondary guard borders add rhythm and definition. The borders function as architectural framing, enclosing the paradise scene and guiding the eye inward toward the medallion.

Colors and Their Placement

The dominant burnt terracotta and coral tones form the primary field, creating warmth and depth while serving as a dramatic canvas for the intricate motifs.
Ivory appears prominently in the central medallion, floral blossoms, bird detailing, and outlining motifs, offering contrast and clarity against the richer background.
Soft turquoise and teal green are concentrated in the corner spandrels, border panels, and select floral leaves, introducing freshness and a garden-like vibrancy.
Pistachio green highlights foliage, vines, and botanical accents throughout the field, reinforcing the paradise garden theme.
Sky blue is used sparingly within floral petals and bird accents, adding lightness and visual movement.
Warm beige and camel tones appear in secondary borders and transitional elements, softening the overall palette and creating balance.
Chocolate brown and charcoal define outlines, branches, and bird forms, giving structure and crisp detail to the composition.
Subtle touches of muted gold appear within the medallion and floral centers, lending a gentle glow and refined elegance without overpowering the design.

Materials and Craftsmanship

This rug is hand-knotted using fine kork wool, prized for its softness, resilience, and ability to hold intricate detail. The cotton foundation provides structural stability and precision in weaving. The pile is evenly clipped, producing a smooth surface that highlights the complexity of the design while maintaining durability suitable for long-term enjoyment.
