3'2" x 4'11" Persian Qum Pure Silk Rug | Master Zabihi Signed | Garden of Paradise Medallion

This is a signed Master Zabihi pure silk Qum from the workshop widely regarded as producing the finest silk Qom carpets on the market today. Hand-knotted in pure silk on a pure silk foundation, the rug carries a Garden of Paradise composition with a luminous turquoise central medallion, deep navy and plum field, and the unmistakable Zabihi outer border populated with elephants, camels, horses, vases, and ceremonial figures. Approximately 20 years old and in excellent, never-used condition. To understand what makes Qum rugs the most prized silk weavings in the Persian tradition, read our complete guide to Qum rugs.

Design and Motifs

The composition centers on a layered turquoise and gold medallion built around a radiant rosette, set against a midnight field densely filled with scrolling vines, palmettes, and miniature vases. Four corner cartouches mirror the medallion in soft sky blue, while the wide outer border tells a story in its own right, with elephants, camels, horses, peacocks, urns, and seated figures drawn from classical Persian iconography. Every square inch carries intentional design, which is the hallmark of a true Qum master weaver.

Colors and Placement

The palette runs from deep navy and plum through copper, gold, ivory, and brilliant turquoise highlights, giving the rug exceptional depth under both natural and warm artificial light. The silk pile shifts in tone depending on viewing angle, a quality unique to fine silk weavings. At 3'2" x 4'11" it works beautifully as an entryway or foyer piece, beside a bed, in a reading nook, in front of a fireplace, or framed and mounted as wall art.

Persian Qum Rugs and the Zabihi Workshop Tradition

The city of Qom rose to prominence as a weaving center in the 20th century and quickly became synonymous with the finest pure silk Persian rugs ever produced. Within that tradition, Master Zabihi's workshop occupies the top tier, recognized for incredibly complex, highly detailed designs, the distinctive sporty weave technique, and rich, dark tonal palettes. A signed Zabihi is treated as a small museum object by collectors worldwide and represents one of the most prestigious names in the entire Persian silk rug tradition.
