Of every silk rug that has passed through our hands, none matches the suppleness of this one; the pile moves like fabric and feels almost liquid to the touch. It is the work of Javad Tabatabai, among the finest silk weavers active in Qum today and a student of the legendary Mohammad Jamshidi, whom many consider the greatest silk producer the city has known. Tabatabai draws his silk from the same source his teacher used and works with the same designer, master Mohammad Akbari, so his rugs carry the Jamshidi refinement directly, and in the intensity and vibrancy of their color, we would argue they go a step beyond. This piece is new, never used, and signed in the cartouche at each end.
Design and Motifs
A sunburst medallion in red, teal, and violet radiates from the center of a navy panel dusted with pink cherry blossoms, floating on a turquoise field alive with hunting scenes, palaces, deer, and birds among golden vines. Around it, a red inner frame of dense floral tracery gives way to something extraordinary: a landscape band with snow-capped mountains, rivers, cottages, and trees, patrolled by knotted giraffes, lions, and camels. Grand flower-filled vases anchor the border axes, and the ivory outer band scatters animals and blossoms to the very edge.
Colors and Placement
The palette is where the Tabatabai signature shows: turquoise and teal of unusual saturation, reds that glow rather than darken, rose pink, marigold orange, and spring green, all shifting in luster as light crosses the pure silk pile. At 4'5" x 7'1", a comfortable 5x7 footprint, it can serve a sitting area or bedroom, though a signed silk of this caliber is most often displayed on a wall, where its detail can be read like a miniature painting.
Origin and Construction
Knotted entirely in pure silk on a silk foundation, the weave is fine enough to render giraffe spots, palace windows, and individual blossom petals with complete clarity. The back shows the immaculate precision expected of a first-tier Qum atelier, and the ivory silk fringe and signed cartouches finish the piece to collector standard. To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.
Before we send out your item we take pictures for future references.

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item.
