8'4 x 12'5 Authentic Persian Nain 6La Rug | Emerald Green Field | 600 KPSI | Wool and Silk

Please note that the main field color is a true emerald green. In some of the photographs it may appear darker or with a slightly cooler cast due to lighting and camera rendering, but in person the field reads as a rich jewel-toned emerald green. Please refer to the detail photographs and video for the most accurate representation of the color. See detail pictures and Video

This is an exceptional Persian Nain rug in brand new, never-used condition, hand-knotted in a 50% wool and 50% silk pile on a pure cotton foundation at an exceptional 600 knots per square inch. Nain rugs are universally recognized among collectors as one of the three pinnacles of Persian fine-weave production alongside Isfahan and Qum, and the 6La designation places this piece among the finer grades coming out of the Nain workshops. For a full overview of the weaving city and what to look for, read our complete guide to Nain rugs. The generous 8'4 x 12'5 Persian Nain format is a rare and highly sought size for Nain production, which most commonly arrives in 7x10 and smaller, making this piece ideally scaled for formal dining rooms seating ten to twelve, large living rooms, great rooms, master bedrooms, and executive offices where a statement rug anchors the space. The emerald green field paired with the ivory border is an uncommon and collector-favored Nain palette that works effortlessly in traditional, transitional, and contemporary interiors.

Design and Motifs

At the center of the field sits a classical eight-point star medallion woven in ivory and layered with cobalt blue cartouches, sky blue accents, and a tight geometric heart of interlocking floral panels. Radiating outward from the medallion is an all-over floral vocabulary of palmettes, lotus blossoms, rosettes, and delicate arabesque vines that carry through the entire field and into the ivory main border. Four corner pendants echo the medallion in miniature, a signature Nain composition, and the rug is framed by an ivory main border carrying palmettes and vine scrolls in cobalt and sky blue, flanked by multiple narrow guard stripes that give the rug its polished finished edge. Silk outlines are used throughout the motifs and medallion to sharpen every leaf, petal, and tendril and to catch the light as you move around the rug.

Colors and Placement

The emerald green field is the defining feature of this rug, a rich saturated jewel tone that most Nain rugs never carry. Ivory dominates the medallion, borders, and floral outlines, with cobalt blue and sky blue punctuating the palmettes and central star, warm gold and tan running through the guard stripes, and quiet burgundy and pale pink accents scattered through the floral vocabulary. The emerald ground paired with the silk-highlighted ivory floral work gives the rug exceptional depth and a presence that anchors a room without overwhelming it. This rug pairs beautifully with warm wood tones, cream and linen upholstery, brass or gold accent pieces, and both traditional and transitional interiors. It is equally at home in a contemporary space that wants one strong traditional anchor piece with genuine craftsmanship.

Nain Rugs and Construction

Nain is one of the youngest of the major Persian weaving cities, with its carpet industry only dating to the 1930s, yet it quickly established itself at the very top of the fine-weave hierarchy alongside Isfahan and Qum. The term 6La refers to the number of threads twisted together in each warp, with lower numbers indicating finer weaves, and 6La remains the workhorse grade for serious Nain production. At 600 knots per square inch this rug sits well above the typical 6La range and approaches 4La territory in density, which tells you the weaver was pushing the grade and holding the classical Nain color palette and floral vocabulary at the same time. The 50% wool and 50% silk pile gives you the durability and hand of wool with the luminosity and crisp outline definition of silk, all tied by hand onto a pure cotton foundation. For a deeper look at what separates 6La Nain production from Habibian master-signed work and why this family of rugs represents the finest expression of Persian weaving, read our piece on Persian Nain 6La and Habibian rugs. A brand new Nain at this knot density in a rare 8'4 x 12'5 room size is a serious collector piece and a genuine heirloom investment.
