10' x 10' Round Oriental Tabriz Rug | Ivory Allover Floral | Rose Vine Borders | Mint Green Edge
Large round rugs are rare, and this 10' x 10' round brings the classic Tabriz look to a shape that suits circular rooms, round dining tables and grand entry halls. It is hand-knotted with a wool pile about 1 inch thick, generous and soft underfoot, and it is finished with a cream fringe around its edge. The rug has never been used, is in excellent condition and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is one of the largest pieces among our round Oriental rugs, big enough to hold a table for 6 to 8 with every chair on the rug.
Design and Motifs
Instead of a central medallion, the ivory field carries an allover pattern of palmettes, rosettes and leafy sprays connected by fine scrolling vines, the kind of balanced floral layout Tabriz weavers made famous. Because there is no single focal point, the design looks right from any seat around the table, which makes it especially well suited to a round format. Around the field, several concentric border bands follow the curve of the rug: narrow rose guard stripes with small repeating flowers, a wider ivory main border of blossoms and curling leaves, and a soft mint green band at the very edge. The drawing is light and airy, giving the rug a calm, elegant presence rather than a busy one.
Ivory, Rose and Mint Green
Ivory sets the tone, a warm cream ground across the whole field that keeps the rug bright and makes a large room feel even more open. Rose is the main accent color, used for the narrow guard stripes and many of the smaller blossoms, a soft, dusty pink that adds warmth without overpowering the ivory. Mint green appears in the outer edge band and echoes through the leaves, a pale, fresh tone that pairs well with rose. Dark red fills the centers of the larger rosettes and palmettes, while navy blue draws some of the flowers and fine outlines, the darkest touches in the palette. Olive green and beige shade the leaves, stems and vines, tying all the colors together into a gentle, garden-like scheme that works with light woods, stone floors and pale upholstery.
The Tabriz Design Tradition
Tabriz, in northwest Persia, is famous for refined curvilinear designs, and its allover floral patterns have been adapted by workshops across Asia that weave in the Tabriz style. This rug follows that tradition in design and is hand-knotted, but it is not a Persian rug, so we list it with our hand-knotted Oriental rugs rather than our Persian collection. What it offers is the look of a classic Tabriz floral in a size and shape that is very hard to find, a 10 foot ivory circle of palmettes and vines framed in rose and mint green.
