Palace size Persian Tabriz rugs of this caliber have become nearly impossible to source. Woven in the 1970s and never placed in a home, this piece survives in the condition it left the loom, a time capsule from an era when Tabriz workshops still had the patience and skilled hands for commissions of this scale. The pile is wool with silk highlights on a full silk foundation, graded 60 Raj, which corresponds to roughly 400 knots per square inch. Note on the photos: the full-view image reads slightly yellow; the medallion and angled photos, along with the video in this listing, show the true ivory, red, and celadon tones.
Design and Motifs
A kaleidoscopic star medallion in navy, slate blue, gold, and rose anchors an ivory field strewn with flowering vines. Around it, bold red spandrels edged in scrolling cloudbands sweep toward the corners, each one filled with its own dense floral tracery and punctuated by round ivory cartouches. The celadon green main border carries large rosettes and arabesque leaves between blush-toned guard stripes, a classic Tabriz frame executed with unusual delicacy for a rug of this size.
The 60 Raj Grade
Raj is the traditional Tabriz measure of fineness: the number of knots counted across one gereh, a unit of about 2.75 inches, along the rug's width. An everyday commercial Tabriz might be 24 or 30 Raj. At 60 Raj, there are roughly 400 knots in every square inch, a density that demands master weavers and years at the loom, especially across nearly 236 square feet. It is the grade collectors seek out, and the reason the drawing stays crisp even in the smallest blossoms of the medallion.

To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item.
