The sage field around it is covered in a fine allover tracery of scrolling vines, small palmettes, lotus blossoms, and serrated leaves, balanced symmetrically across the rug. Soft ivory and rose corner spandrels carry their own floral arabesques, and pendant cartouches mark the top and bottom of the field. The multi-band terracotta border runs a stately procession of palmettes and leafy scrolls between fine floral guard stripes, with a delicate green vine framing the field on the inner edge.
