9'5" x 13'2" Persian Mahal Rug | Red Herati Field | Navy Diamond Medallion
This handsome 9'5" x 13'2" Persian Mahal is a true room-size carpet, hand-knotted in pure wool on a cotton foundation. A deep tomato-red field carries an all-over Herati pattern anchored by a single navy diamond medallion, with ivory corner spandrels and a classic navy turtle border completing the traditional Mahal composition.
Design and Motifs
The field is filled with the timeless Herati, or mahi, design, a repeating lattice of small diamonds, rosettes and curved leaves that gives the rug its lively, all-over rhythm. At the center sits an elongated navy medallion brimming with pink and gold flowerheads, while four ivory spandrels frame the corners with their own geometric floral lattice. The main border draws on the well-loved turtle palmette and vine, a motif Mahal weavers have repeated for generations.
Colors and Placement
Rich red dominates the field, balanced by a deep navy medallion and border and brightened with ivory, rose pink, soft gold and touches of teal green. The warm, saturated palette reads as both formal and inviting, making this a natural anchor for a large living room, dining room or open-plan space. At roughly 9 by 13 feet it comfortably holds a full sofa grouping or a 6 to 8 seat dining table with the chairs pulled out.
Origin and Construction
Mahal rugs are woven in the Mahallat district of the historic Arak (Sultanabad) region of western Persia, long prized for hard-wearing decorative carpets built to last for decades. This example is hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation and, although it is around 35 years old, it has never been used and remains in excellent condition, with full pile and fresh color that look as though it left the loom today. To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.
Before we send out your item we take pictures for future references.

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item. Processing time: please give us up to five business days to process your return, and an additional 2-3 business to receive your money back. If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
