Design and Motifs

The medallion is the anchor: an elongated ivory and cream cartouche packed with finely drawn Shah Abbasi palmettes, sky blue rosettes, and a small central floral core, with matching ivory pendants extending top and bottom along the rug's long axis. Around the medallion the field carries a continuous floral repeat, palmettes opening, lotus blossoms turning back on themselves, vine work threading between them, never twice in the same way.
