This is a hand-hooked wool rug made in India in the classic French Aubusson manner, with a soft cream field, a central rose-and-leaf bouquet, and a deep mocha border of curling acanthus leaves. Hooked rugs are made by pulling loops of wool yarn through a cotton foundation by hand, which gives them their distinctive plush, beaded surface and their gentle, painterly shading. At 8 by 11 feet, it is a true room-size piece with a quiet, traditional look that settles easily into a formal or country interior.
A note on condition: This rug is in good overall shape with a few areas of low pile where the wool has worn thinner with use. It remains fully intact and ready to place, and the worn areas are shown honestly in the photos so you can see exactly what to expect.
Design and Motifs
The center of the rug holds an oval bouquet of roses, buds, and small wildflowers framed by a delicate scrolled cartouche. Around it the cream field opens up before giving way to a wide mocha border filled with large curling acanthus leaves and clusters of roses at the corners and centers of each side. The drawing is soft and shaded rather than sharp and geometric, the hallmark of the Aubusson and Savonnerie traditions that this piece interprets.

The palette is gentle and neutral, built on cream and beige with a taupe to mocha border and accents of rose, soft pink, sage green, and gold in the flowers. To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.
Before we send out your item we take pictures for future references.

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item.
