SHAPES
Rug Shapes
Rooms are not all rectangles, and neither are rugs. The weaving tradition answers every geometry a floor can pose, though not in equal numbers: for every thousand rectangles that come off the looms of Persia, a handful of squares, rounds and octagons are made, each one shaped by hand at the edge of the weave, row by row. This page gathers the whole family, and every rug in it is hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind, and photographed exactly as it will arrive.
The classic majority lives in our rectangular rugs, the format Persian design was built around. Corridors and staircases belong to our hallway runner rugs, woven for movement rather than cut to fit. Then come the rarities: round rugs for foyers and breakfast tables, square rugs for landings and nooks, oval rugs for the long graceful curve under a dining table, and octagon rugs, the rarest outline in the trade, for rooms with presence.
Shape questions are really room questions, is the table round, does the hall turn, what sits under the chandelier, and those are quick to settle with a photo on our chat, any hour. Free shipping and free returns in all 50 states and Canada apply to every geometry equally. Whatever outline your floor is asking for, someone in Persia has woven the answer.
