This is a signed vintage Persian Mashad rug, hand-knotted roughly thirty-five years ago in the city of Mashad in northeastern Persia. A deep raspberry red field carries a dense all-over floral pattern gathered around a soft central medallion, framed by a taupe and grey border of stars and rosettes. The rug bears a woven signature cartouche along the top, a mark of a named workshop, and despite its age it was stored and never put into use, so it remains in excellent condition with full pile. At 10 by 13 feet it is a generous room-size piece with the depth of color and fine detail that Mashad weaving is known for.
Design and Motifs
The raspberry field is filled edge to edge with curling vinework, palmettes, boteh, leafy rosettes, and small vase motifs, all radiating from a central floral star medallion set on a soft grey ground. Scattered cream and indigo cartouches and lozenges break up the red, giving the pattern movement without a hard, rigid layout. The wide main border runs on a taupe and grey ground with eight-point star rosettes and floral palmettes, bracketed by ivory and indigo guard stripes that frame the field cleanly on every side.
Colors and Placement
The palette is led by a rich raspberry red, the kind of saturated cochineal tone Mashad is prized for, worked against grey, taupe, ivory, indigo blue, salmon, and soft gold. It is a warm, traditional rug that grounds a room with color, well suited to a formal living room, dining room, or large study. At 10 by 13 feet it comfortably seats a full furniture group on the rug and fills a large room without looking sparse, reading equally well in classic and updated traditional interiors.
Origin and Construction
This rug was hand-knotted in Mashad, the historic weaving center of the Khorasan region in northeastern Persia, using wool pile on a cotton foundation at roughly 180 to 200 knots per square inch. The weave is fine and even, the back crisp and tightly knotted, and the woven signature points to a specific workshop rather than an anonymous village production. Now about thirty-five years old yet never used, it offers the character and color of a vintage Persian rug in genuinely excellent condition. To facilitate a return, contact our Customer Service team via email at info@rugs.net with your order number to request a shipping label(s) for your item(s). Purchased from Rugs.net policy can be refunded within 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be returned in like kind packaging.
Before we send out your item we take pictures for future references.

After returned item, management will inspect your item. We will send you an email notifying you that we have received your item.
