This is a very fine Persian Tabriz rug woven in the 60 Raj grade, one of the highest knot densities Tabriz produces, at roughly 500 knots per square inch. A luminous ivory field is filled with delicate scrolling vinework and a classic Shah Abbas floral system, gathered around a layered star medallion in red, navy, and soft green with silk highlights that catch the light. The wool and silk pile sits on a silk foundation, which is what allows the weavers to render this level of fine detail. Both the rare 9 by 13 foot proportions and the soft ivory and red color combination make this an unusually special example, and it is in excellent, never used condition.
