5x7 Persian & Oriental Rugs

Shop authentic 5x7 Persian and oriental rugs, the size that fits under a coffee table, beside a bed or in a den. Our 5x7s range from Qum silk and signed Isfahans to durable Bijars and modern hand-knotted designs, each one of a kind and photographed exactly as it will arrive.

The 5x7: The Working Size of the Persian Home

Ask a rug dealer which size sells out first and the answer is usually the 5x7. It sits under a coffee table with sofa legs just touching the edge, fills a bedroom without wall-to-wall coverage, and defines a dining nook or den. It is large enough to carry serious weaving, small enough to move between rooms and homes for decades.

Because a 5x7 lives in the busiest parts of the house, construction matters here more than anywhere. This is where the legendary Bijar, the most densely packed weave in Persia, proves its worth, and where the thick, lustrous pile of a Sarough keeps its beauty through years of footsteps. Every rug on this page is hand-knotted from natural fibers, most in pure hand-spun wool, and every one is the only rug of its kind anywhere.

If you are measuring furniture around a 5x7 and want a second opinion, our team answers phone and chat 24 hours a day. Shipping is free, returns are free, all 50 states and Canada, so the decision only becomes final once the rug is on your floor and you love it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What room size fits a 5x7 rug?

A 5x7 suits a small living room, a den, a home office or the side of a bed. In a living room, center it under the coffee table so the sofa legs just touch the edge.

Should I choose a 5x7 or a 6x9?

If your sofa is longer than about seven feet, or you want the front legs of all seating on the rug, a 6x9 usually looks better. See our 6x9 Persian rugs.

Are 5x7 Persian rugs exactly 5 by 7 feet?

Rarely. Handmade rugs vary by a few inches, so rugs in this category measure roughly from 5 x 7 up to about 5'6" x 8'. Every listing shows the exact size.
